CAMPING AT LAKE NEUSIEDL

Hello dear camping friends,
it's us, the Schütze family from Nuremberg: father Ullrich, son Noah (12), daughter Sabrina (10) and me, Eva, wife and mother. It is also me who tells about our vacation from camping on Lake Neusiedl.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Noah and Sabrina had been nagging Ullrich and me for a while with their desire for a camping vacation. My husband and I were not at all averse to it, but were reluctant to buy a new motor home or tent. "Let's rent amotor home!", Ullrich suggested. To try out this form of vacation, it was a good idea. In the meantime, Uncle Ernest had gotten wind of our vacation plans and made us an irresistible offer that we couldn't refuse: "Kids, don't stress! I'll gladly lend you my motor home. I also have a tent." Then it was clear: we were going camping. Now we just had to know where.

TO CAMPING IN BURGENLAND AT THE LAKE

We are all real water rats: Our kids love surfing and kiting, Ullrich and I love sailing. So a suitable body of water close to the campsite was a must. While researching on the Internet, we soon came across the portal topcamping.at. A bit of browsing and we ended up camping in Burgenland on the lake. Podersdorf on Lake Neusiedl offers everything we wanted for a camping vacation with water sports: Sailing, surfing, kiting and swimming. There are also opportunities for Nordic walking, tennis, horseback riding, cycling and hiking. Boredom is obviously a foreign word in Podersdorf. Also the gastronomic offer can be seen including vinotheques with well-known, international wines.

LAKE NEUSIEDLER, WE'RE COMING!

We had to endure a bit of anticipation, then we finally set off. The trip in the camper from Nuremberg to the Camping site in Podersdorf on Lake Neusiedl went without any incidents. The first night we all spent together in the camper. But then we immediately set up the tent for the kids, who just thought it was cooler to sleep outside in the tent. We liked the campsite: meadow area with trees and bushes, electricity connections for all parceled out sites and for climate and environmentally friendly measures the site even received the "Energy Globe Award". We quickly settled in, got to know our camping neighbors better and the children made friends with each other. Or were they already small flirts?

WATER SPORTS WHEN CAMPING AT LAKE NEUSIEDLER

Our expectations were even exceeded! For us, an important element in water sports: wind. Here, it's mainly onshore, strong northwest winds that blow - ideal for water sports like surfing, kiting and sailing. Another plus for water sports-loving families is the shallow water depth of Lake Neusiedl, even though Noah and Sabrina are good swimmers. The "Nordstrand" in Podersdorf is considered the most modern surfing center in the region. There is simply everything here: ample space for surfing, a surf school, a well-kept changing area including hot and cold water showers, a surf store and gastronomy. Beginners and professionals alike will get their money's worth. Children of Noah and Sabrina's age can stand anywhere in the lake, which made them feel safe, especially as beginners. We rented our sailboat at the "Nordstrand" sailing school. We were thrilled with the sailing conditions. Low water depth and steady wind created short, steep waves. With our experience, we coped well with larger wind forces.

RELAXATION IN THE NEUSIEDLERSEE NATIONAL PARK

In 1993 the "National Park Neusiedlersee - Seewinkel" was founded. Podersdorf is also part of it. In the unspoiled landscape with reed belt, mowing meadows and small sand habitats we observed nature with the children.

DELICIOUS DINING

When camping in Burgenland, non-stop self-catering would be a sin. In particular, the regional cuisine and excellent wines are worth discovering. Ullrich virtually reveled in tasting exquisite wines in the vinotheques, wine cellars and Buschenschenken. "Noah is in love!" was how Sabrina opened the dinner conversation one evening. "That's not true at all!" Noah at first defended himself. Then he made up his mind and declared briskly that he liked Linda, the same age as him, from the kite course. "She can do so much!" he gushed. "She'll be back here next year." Sabrina grinned. Ullrich said: "A lot can happen in one year, but I also like the idea of coming back next year to camp at Lake Neusiedl. We are already looking forward to camping in Podersdorf next year.
