CAMPING BERAU AM WOLFGANGSEE: AUTUMN ENJOYMENT FOR ALL THE SENSES

It almost seems as if Lake Wolfgang, which glitters so vividly in summer, senses the approach of autumn. How else can it be explained that its water surface often seems completely smooth and motionless during this time? Now the surrounding mountains and forests are reflected in it with particular intensity: a fairy-tale sight that casts an irresistible spell. Up on the Postalm, the Zwölferhorn and the Schafberg, the most beautiful hiking routes now invite you to an autumnal discovery tour. The wonderful air invigorates body, mind and soul and awakens the appetite for delicious delights. How good that the alpine huts, snack stations and restaurants have taken precautions and spoil their guests with special culinary highlights! By the way, traditional dishes from the region are the focus of attention. The autumn is in addition, the time of the meetings. Around the Wolfgangsee several mad celebrations and markets invite equal to a comfortable stroll. Whether autumn festival in Strobl, artisan market in St. Gilgen or the "Wolfgangsee-Traktoria" in St. Wolfgang, good mood and entertainment are pre-programmed in any case. The Almabtrieb at the beginning of October is undoubtedly one of the highlights. Don't miss it when the festively decorated cows are driven from their alpine pasture to the stables in town!

STRANDCAMPING PODERSDORF AT THE NEUSIEDLERSEE: THE PANNONIAN AUTUMN

With the harvest season, the Pannonian autumn also moves into the region around Lake Neusiedl. And it has it all, because it offers an irresistible potpourri of culinary delights, nature experiences, culture and relaxation. Of course, fine wines are also at the center of the action here. Enjoy the fine drops with lovingly prepared, regional delicacies and let yourself be enchanted by the cordiality of the restaurateurs! Meanwhile, those hungry for exercise can look forward to a variety of activities in nature. Cycling and hiking, Nordic walking and horseback riding: If you want to get your body and mind going, you'll get your money's worth in the fresh autumn air and the beautiful nature around Lake Neusiedl. Nevertheless, it can sometimes be worthwhile to remain completely immobile. During bird watching, for example, because until well into October you will encounter a wide variety of bird species in the Seewinkel, which are taking a short rest on their way to their winter quarters. The plover, avocet and curlew are just as much a part of it as the Dunlin and the Sanderling. In the evenings, the focus is on cultural events. Numerous concerts and exhibitions take place at Esterházy Castle in Eisenstadt as well as at Forchtenstein Castle and Halbturn Castle. And a visit to one of the museums is also wonderfully relaxing in autumn!

SEECAMPING BERGHOF AT THE OSSIACHER SEE: HOLIDAY TO ENJOY AND DREAM

Around Lake Ossiach in autumn it is wonderfully tranquil, cozy and even romantic. The ships of Ossiacher See Schifffahrt will be at sea for you until mid-October. Use the quiet time for a round trip or a single trip, because now, in the glow of the already lower sun, the lake shimmers especially beautifully! In addition, you should definitely plan a trip to Landskron Castle. It not only gives you a magnificent view of the city of Villach and the western bay of Lake Ossiach, but also has two exciting surprises in store for you: the Eagle Arena and the Monkey Mountain. The eagle arena (open until October 27) is a fascinating bird of prey park that is home to eagles, buzzards, kites, falcons, hawks and sparrow hawks, among others. Thanks to the completely species-appropriate housing, you have the opportunity to observe and get to know the animals in their completely natural behavior. No less impressive is the Monkey Mountain with its free-living Japanese macaques. During a guided tour through the extensive area, you can observe the monkeys as if they were in the wild: the animals are neither trained nor domesticated. And another small excursion tip: The Finsterbach waterfalls in Sattendorf are a spectacular natural experience all year round, but after heavier rains in the fall, the roaring water develops a gigantic force!
