You don't have to be on skis if you fancy snowy landscapes and the cosy atmosphere of Austria's Top Camping Austria sites. Below you will find a small preview of the most beautiful "off-piste" winter camping experiences!

If you have a preference for winter romance, you will love a winter camping holiday at the Zugspitz Resort. The region has come up with some atmospheric activities for snow lovers. Why not take a seat in a horse-drawn sleigh - together with your loved ones, snuggled up in warm blankets?

When bells ring softly during the journey, the well-known Christmas and winter carol Jingle Bells takes on a whole new meaning. Evening torchlight walks are just as romantic. There is something very special when the glow of the burning torches breaks through the darkness and the mysterious shadows create a mystical atmosphere. Between 1 December 2022 and 30 April 2023, there will be a lot going on around Innsbruck and the Ferienparadies Natterer See. A guided and extremely varied activity programme will lure young and old out into the snow. But there is one drawback: with so many tempting offers, it might be difficult to choose! Whether it's a leisurely winter hike or a sporty snowshoe tour, an alpaca hike (what a pleasure!) or a cross-country skiing taster course, the winter activity package is vast, and everyone can pick something that suits them. A special treat: with the attractive Innsbruck "Welcome Card", all the tours on offer are free! It is therefore worthwhile to be active during a winter camping holiday!

ERLEBNIS COMFORT CAMPING AUFENFELD

Winter fun in the snow and on the ice

Although the Ziller valley is all about winter sports, there are also wonderful winter camping experiences to be enjoyed away from the slopes. At the top of the popularity scale: relaxing winter hikes through the many secluded treasures around Erlebnis Camping Aufenfeld. The three big "I's" are more action-packed: ice skating, ice hockey and ice climbing. With so much sporting activity, you'll break a sweat even on frosty days with temperatures below zero! Tobogganing, on the other hand, is fun for the whole family. The toboggan run network in the Zillertal covers 48 kilometres (28 kilometres of which are illuminated in the evening!), so everyone is guaranteed to find their favourite run!

CAMPING SEEBLICK TONI

FOR CONNOISSEURS AND SPORTIVE PEOPLE

Winter campers can also look forward to fantastic highlights in the beautiful Alpbachtal the home of Camping Seeblick Toni. The deeply snow-covered and in many places still untouched nature is setting the scene. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you should explore the glittering landscape on snowshoes. In doing so, you will certainly come across tranquil places that hardly anyone has discovered before. On a ski tour you are also off-piste. This is another way to enjoy nature and the peace and quiet of the mountains. If you prefer to trudge through the snow in boots, you can choose from more than 20 winter hiking tours. Whether high up on the sunny plateau or in the valley alongside lakes and streams - you will find paradisiacal beauty everywhere!

EURO CAMP "WILD EMPEROR

THE WINTER FAIRY TALE WITH A DIFFERENCE

In addition to the more leisurely activities such as winter hikes or horse-drawn sleigh rides, the region around the Euro-Camp Wilder Kaiser also offers some unusual highlights, where the focus is on fun, but also on a certain thrill. One trendy sport that attracts particularly young people is snow tubing. You slide down a track with steep curves on a tyre filled with air: truly fast-paced fun! Curling or tobogganing is a bit gentler, but no less exciting. If you're looking for a real adrenaline kick: The winter paragliding launch site at an altitude of 1500 metres is easily accessible with the Unterberghorn cable car!

Winter camping for sportsmen and llama tamers

Did you know that the Pillersee Valley is a popular biathlon region? After all, the legendary Biathlon World Cup takes place in Hochfilzen every year! Perhaps you would like to follow in the footsteps of the medal winners? No problem, there is guest biathlon on offer every day. But of course, you can also conquer the more than 200 kilometres of cross-country ski trails (classic and skating) without a rifle! If you prefer animal company on your winter hike, why not go on an Ilima excursion! You will be amazed how soothing and decelerating the adorable animals are! The highest treetop hiking trail in Europe is also ideal for a winter walk. But if you're in the mood for some serious horsepower, you'll love the Snowmobile City: In the Snowmobile City you can put your driving skills to the test either on a snowmobile or on a snow groomer! Tirol Camp Fieberbrunn is well prepared for adventurous winter campers.
